Abstract

Notebook containing replies to questions asked to oysterman. Replies are numbered, apparently referring to question numbers, but no list of questions is given. undated, but surmised to be part of the oyster survey of Louisiana conducted between 1888-1898. Answers begin with information about the person person interviewed: name, location, presumably, where they fish and for how long. Other answers vary in length but some are several lines, and indicate locations and conditions of oyster beds, preferred oysters for fishing, and types of equipment used. Participants are usually from Biloxi, Mississippi or New Orleans, Louisiana.
