Abstract

This is the second of two notebooks containing a journal of an oyster survey of Louisiana, conducted by the United States Bureau of Fisheries. Dated February 21-March 15, 1898. Entries discuss the oyster bed sites visited; observed health of area oyster beds and specimens taken; measurements of environmental conditions; flora and fauna competing affecting oyster populations; and information from local inhabitants including distinctions between types of oysters. Locations in Louisiana include Half Moon Island, Bay Voisin, and Wine Island.
