Abstract

This field book is part of the animal research data of the Division of Zoological Research of the National Zoological Park (U. S.), which conducted research documenting the toque macaque of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. The research was mostly performed by Research Associate Wolfgang P. J. Dittus, Director of the Smithsonian Primate Biology Program in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. ' The present field book includes field data from a primate survey in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, for which Dittus was assisted by S. M. S. Farook and Jayantha Uduwara. It focuses on "the influence of genealogy in sociology & social evolution" among toque macaques, as is written on its first page. The field notes are dated from March 9 to 31, 1975. They include drawings.
