Abstract

This field book contains notes by Frederick M. Bayer. He was a zoologist and malacologist who came to the Smithsonian in 1947 as a research zoologist specializing in taxonomy, zoogeography, and mineralogy of Octocorallia (soft corals). The field book contains a catalogue of collections and a journal on the collecting trip to the Palau Islands, organized through the George Vanderbilt Foundation, in 1955. The field notes cataloging observed specimens are on loose leaves in a fabric book cover. They cover dates from July 8, to August 30, 1955 and are organized by station. The journal starts from June 21, 1955 and ends on August 7, 1955. There are additional notes and lists.
