Abstract

Robert P. Higgins, born in 1932, is an invertebrate zoologist who held various positions at the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of Natural History, 1968-1996. The Smithsonian Institution Archives house field notes that document his collecting trips around the world. This field book includes field notes on various locations, covering Tobago, the former USSR, and the South Pacific Ocean, between 1965 and 1991. They are filled on printed cards with forms, all checked as "logged" and in which were filled, in various hands, rubrics including a station number, accession number, location, gear, sampling method, collector name, name of specimens and remarks.
