Abstract

Robert P. Higgins, born in 1932, is an invertebrate zoologist who held various positions at the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of Natural History, 1968-1996. The Smithsonian Institution Archives house field notes that document his collecting trips around the world. This field book shows notes for field trips to the Dominican Republic and Haiti in 1980. Inserted are the photocopy of part of a map of Hispaniola, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, annotated in pencil with dates on certain locations; an advertising card for a shop, and a note with coordinates for Cap Haitien. The field book includes text and drawings. The notes are dated from November 2 to 10, 1980. They inlcude station numbering, names, coordinates and details on soil and specimens.
