Abstract

Robert P. Higgins, born in 1932, is an invertebrate zoologist who held various positions at the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of Natural History, 1968-1996. The Smithsonian Institution Archives house field notes that document his collecting trips around the world. This field book is constituted of cards with forms filled in pencil. They provide station notes for visited fields from around the world. Station numbers are given, along with names and coordinates of locations, and names of collectors. Soil condition and sampling procedures are given, with types of specimens. Most cards are checked as "logged". Some additional notes are pasted at the back of some cards.
