Abstract

Robert P. Higgins, born in 1932, is an invertebrate zoologist who held various positions at the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of Natural History, 1968-1996. The Smithsonian Institution Archives house field notes that document his collecting trips around the world. This particular field book includes notes on field trips to Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. The station list has dates ranging from July 13 to July 20, 1976. Locations, coordinates, depth and details on specimens collections are given for each station. Higgins also noted population counts for each species, and details on modes of collection and processing. Some additional notes are inserted.
