Abstract

The field book is part of a collection of Waldo L. Schmitt papers. Schmitt was a carcinologist. He participated in many field trips and expeditions to observe crustaceans in the USA and around the world. Sponsored by a grant from the Office of Naval Research, Schmitt spent the summers of 1961 and 1962 with Harry Pederson photographing the coral reef fauna of the Bahamas. The field book, the first of a set of two on that summer trip, has several inserted leaves with notes and lists. The stations of the field trip are mainly in the Clifton Bay area and Lyford Cay, Nassau, Bahamas. Notes were taken about which crustaceans were eaten by which fish. Dates range from June 25 to August 17, 1961.
