Abstract

This item provides more information regarding the locality of Allard's specimen no. 1-11800 from Virginia and West Virginia. It also includes a letter from William Ralph Maxon, an assistant curator at the Smithsonian Institution United States National Museum, Division of Plants, addressed to to Allard at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Plant Industry. The letter is dated January 30, 1937 and discusses issues regarding identification of specimens collected in the Bull Run Mountains by Allard and identified by Emery C. Leonard. The two published a book entitled The vegetation and floristics of Bull Run Mountain, Virginia in 1943.
