PrintJoseph Rosewater (1928-1985) was a malacologist in the Division of Mollusks at the National Museum of Natural History. He joined the International Indian Ocean Expedition to Singapore and Colomb, Ceylan, which took place in 1963 on the schooner Te Vega, to research the marine fauna in the Indian Ocean. This field book includes both printed text and photocopies of handwritten notes on the mollusks that were collected during the auxiliary cruise, named "A", of the expedition. The cruise operated in the waters of Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Mollusks from the Conidae family stayed with Dr. Alan J. Kohn, from University of Washington, Seattle, for him to study and send examples to the U. S. National Museum, while the rest of specimens were included in the national collection of the museum. The field notes include dates, coordinates, drawings, maps and details on found specimens.
