Abstract

This field book is the third small notebook of a set of five, containing the field notes of Brian Harold Mason, taken in various New Zealand areas during the years 1957-1958. Brian Harold Mason (1917-2009) was the Curator in the Meteorites Division, Department of Mineral Sciences of the National Museum of Natural History. Mason's research focused on the mineralogy and petrology of meteorites and cosmochemistry. This field book, no. 3, relates to research conducted in the Mount Cook and Lake Ohau areas, between February 11 and 16, 1958. The notes, in ink, include details on collected samples, including their composition and their coordinates. Each finding is numbered continuously from in the notebooks, this one covering numbers 100 to 710.
