PrintField book of banding forms that are survey records on migratory birds specimens collected in Egypt for the Palearctic Migratory Bird Survey. From the finding aid (SIA RU000435): "The Palearctic Migratory Bird Survey (PMS), a survey of migratory birds, their ectoparasites and the viruses they carry, was conducted in the eastern Mediterranean from 1966 to 1971. The primary PMS operation site was in northern Egypt. Surveys were also conducted in Cyprus and Israel. The PMS involved scientists of the Smithsonian Institution, the United States Naval Medical Research Unit, and Yale University, and was funded by the Army Research Office, the Smithsonian Foreign Currency Program, and the Smithsonian Research Foundation. George E. Watson, Chairman, Department of Vertebrate Zoology, and Curator, Division of Birds, National Museum of Natural History, was Principal Investigator". Surveys were also conducted in Uganda. To the first leaf of banding forms is attached a card with the period of research (Spring-Fall 1972) and the note "AA [crossed: 'AE', should be Bahig AA, April 74." The banding forms, five per leaf, are dated from February 29 to November 14, 1972. They are not numbered, but have instead a mention of "released" or "DOA" (dead on arrival) bird. They show the date, locality of capture and release, bird species, sex (as determined by plumage, soft parts, or otherwise), age (as determined by plumage, soft parts, skull or otherwise), weight, fat, molt, and additional remarks. Many forms are marked with the word "discard".
