Abstract

This is the sixth of seven logbooks of the Fish Hawk, labeled "No. 6, 1888, #177-226". It contains records of observations 177-226, taken during October 2 - 4, 1888. Readings were collected approximately every 10 to 15 minutes. Data recorded includes number of observation, date, locality, bearings, time of day, sky, air temperature, surface and bottom temperature, depth temperature, depth, nature of bottom surface density, depth and bottom densities and commanding officer. On the backside of pages, are notes about the condition of oysters found, descriptions of river floor, and other marine life observed (i.e. scallops, seaweed, and starfish). Collecting was in the Providence River.
