Abstract

This is the fifth of seven logbooks of the Fish Hawk, labeled "No. 5, Oyster Investigation 129-176". It contains records of observations 129 - 176, taken during September 28 - October 2, 1888. Readings were collected approximately every 10 to 15 minutes. Data recorded includes number of observation, date, locality, bearings, time of day, sky, air temperature, surface and bottom temperature, depth temperature, depth, nature of bottom surface density, depth and bottom densities and commanding officer. On the backside of pages, are notes about the condition of oysters found. Collecting was in the Providence River.
