PrintThis is a folder of data recording forms for field notes, part of the survey records on migratory birds specimens collected in Cyprus for the Palearctic Migratory Bird Survey. From the finding aid (SIA RU000435): "The Palearctic Migratory Bird Survey (PMS), a survey of migratory birds, their ectoparasites and the viruses they carry, was conducted in the eastern Mediterranean from 1966 to 1971. The primary PMS operation site was in northern Egypt. Surveys were also conducted in Cyprus and Israel. The PMS involved scientists of the Smithsonian Institution, the United States Naval Medical Research Unit, and Yale University, and was funded by the Army Research Office, the Smithsonian Foreign Currency Program, and the Smithsonian Research Foundation. George E. Watson, Chairman, Department of Vertebrate Zoology, and Curator, Division of Birds, National Museum of Natural History, was Principal Investigator". Surveys were also conducted in Uganda. The forms show the locality of research and columns for the researched birds' species, the date by day and month (ranging from early March to May), the sex, age, weight and fat as well as additional remarks. The forms are not numbered and are not organized by date.
