Abstract

This is the third of seven logbooks of the Fish Hawk, labeled "No. 3, Oyster Investigation". It contains records of observations 40-89, taken during September 17 - 25, 1888. Readings were collected approximately every 10 to 15 minutes. Data recorded include number of observation, date, locality, bearings, time of day, sky, air temperature, surface and bottom temperature, depth temperature, depth, nature of bottom surface density, depth and bottom densities and commanding officer. Collecting was done in Narragansett Bay and the Providence River.
