Abstract

Folder of field notes of Edgar Alexander Mearns (1856-1916), who was an army surgeon and a naturalist. These field notes were taken during a research trip to the Philippines, and focused mostly on birds. The notes, which are typewritten in black and red ink, include itineraries and data for several tours on duty to various parts of the Philippines, from June 17, 1902 to March 30, 1907. They mention places visited, people and animals encountered, incidents such as related to weather, and the types of birds, as well as a few other animals, seen ad collected (mostly by shooting).
