Abstract

This contains three copies of an unpublished manuscript written by William Healey Dall entitled, "Beach and shore shells of Monterey, California; collected in person with notes on geographical distribution, synonymy and habits." Notes document specimen collecting in the vicinity of the Salinas River in Monterey, California, during January 1866. As the title indicates, the manuscript includes information about types of fauna observed (typically mollusks), as well as population abundance, description of fauna characteristics, and location information. Notes are organized into a numbered list with scientific name and related descriptions. The documents contain numerous edits and notations.
