Abstract

The field notes document the work of Neal Smith on White and Southampton Islands in Nunavut, Canada, during April 28 - September 1, 1960. The loose sheets contained dated entries that are narrative in format. They describe personal observations, logistics, work completed sometimes with time of day, interactions with colleagues and local "Eskimo" inhabitants, routes traveled, observations of wildlife populations and field work, trips to the interior of Southampton island, work studying gulls, drawings of campsites, and hand drawn maps with notations. At the end is a list of specimens taken.
