Abstract

Field notes document the work of James Lynch in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji during September 14 to October 9, 1985. The purpose of the trip was to attend a conference on the role of remnants of native vegetation in conservation and to see first hand the bird-vegetation associations in the southwest Pacific. The loose sheets are headed with date, location or route, followed by narrative style entries that describe travel details, routes traveled during field work, weather, bird lists, observations of bird behavior, habitat, and work completed. At the end, there is a check list of New Zealand birds with abbreviations indicating if their habitat.
