Abstract

The oversized drawing depicts the geological strata of the Trenton Gravels in New Jersey during 1892. The drawing has a note stating it is a traverse and longitudinal sections of Trenton Gravel, from the city sewer at Trenton, New Jersey by Wm. Diwwiddie, Assistant Architect. The strata were annotated. There is a note in Holmes' handwriting stating that "in all of these exposures not a trace of human handiwork was found."
