Abstract

The notes and drawings document William Holmes' field work in Izamal, Mexico, 1895. The drawings depict sculpture, Mayan ruins, landscape shaped by the remains of structures, local inhabitants, and building layouts. Drawings have annotations, identifying locations and subject matter, sometimes with measurements. Field notes are organized by visit number, headed with location, sometimes dated (January 16), and describe travel as well as observations and interpretations of the site.
