Abstract

The volume documents the field work of Paul Bartsch during the Bahama Cruise aboard the Anton Dohrn making a bacteriological examination of the waters, during April 17 - June 7, 1912. The volume begins with loose inserts, including a typed list of actual and necessary expenses incurred during the trip for the U.S. National Museum. Entries are dated and narrative in structure. They describe travel details, daily activities (sometimes with time of day), observations, as well as entries organized by station number that list location information, time of day, and measurements (depth and temperature). Contains a hand drawn map of the waters around Golding Cay and Flat Cay. In the back is a typed brief report about work completed and a type transcript of the volume. The Anton Dohrn belonged to the Marine Biological Laboratory of the Carnegie Institute.
