Abstract

The notebook documents the field work of James Luhr during his multiple trips in the U.S.S.R [after 1991, in Russia] over the period of August 11, 1989 - March 11, 1998. Entries provide information on date, location, directions to the collection site, type of activity, names of collectors, and sample identifiers. Specimen information includes: identifier (e.g. BK-207), type of rock, color, count, density, metric measurements, inclusions (e.g. olivine) photo # (if any), description of terrain, sometimes stratigraphic or geospatial drawings. Some entries are written in a form of narrative. Locations include: Zakamensk, Ulan Ude, Oka river, Ulegchin river, Urbun river, etc. Occasionally, there is contact information of colleagues and collaborators.
