Abstract

The volume is a press-book containing copies of field letters from Timothy F. Stanton during June 30, 1895 to July 12, 1905. Letters were handwritten and describe his work while assistant paleontologist at the U.S. Geological Survey. They are dated and headed with correspondent and affiliation. Most letters are submitted reports on field work completed including names colleagues with whom worked, locations, observations of geological characteristics, descriptions of specimens, and specimen shipments. Reports are usually addressed with the C. D. Walcott or to the title of the director of the U.S. Geological Survey. Other letters were sent to the quartermaster regarding expenses and payment. He works in the following locations: California, 1893; California, 1894; Texas, 1895; Colorado and Wyoming, 1896; Texas, 1897; Texas and Kansas, 1898; California and Oregon, 1900; California, 1902; Montana, 1903; Colorado and New Mexico, 1905.
