Abstract

The notebook documents the fieldwork of Thomas Simkin at the Isle of Skye in Scotland, while part of the Department of Geology at the University of St. Andrews. In the front of the volume is a list of abbreviations for locations in Skye. Entries are usually dated, and contain notes about terrain, calculations, characteristics observed (e.g. reolite banding, color), sampling completed (including tables of data), drawings of geological characteristics with notations, notes about conditions of access to locations. Sample information includes identifier (e.g. D2), measurements, location (sometimes hand drawn map), and photographs taken.
