Abstract

The field notes document the work of James F. Luhr during his volcanology research in San Juan, Nayarit, Mexico. Entries provide the following information: serial number, directions to the collection site (in feet), count of pumice and lithics (e.g. 15, 18, 20), LW, LG, UA (in inches). Sometimes, a specimen identifier is provided (e.g.TP 58 UA). There is a table that contains information on conversion of field numbers into collection numbers. Locations of ash/mud are numbered and provided as a separate list. Occasionally, there are drawings of: landscape with indicated locations of specimens collected and cross sections of geological structures. The follow-up site visit entry provides extra information with metric measurements.
