PrintThe notebook documents the work of E. C. T. Chao January 10 - March 16, 1964, while working for the U. S. Geological Survey. The volume covers field work in the vicinity of Bosumtwi Crater in Ghana during January - February, 1964, and the Nördlinger Ries Crater in Landkreis Donau-Ries, Germany, March 6 - 16, 1964. The first entries are dated and describe travel details, information on craters, citations for references, and a list of new suspect craters in Africa. Notes relating to field work in Ghana begin with a list of field party members, followed by entries describing routes, observations of terrain, color and composition of ground, descriptions of photographs taken, drawings of terrain with notations, hand drawn maps, list and description of samples collected that list specimen numbers (e.g. RSC-1-64), description, and location description. Field note entries for travel in Germany primarily list information about samples collected and photographs taken. Includes a pasted insert that is a hand drawn map.
