Abstract

The hydrographic sheet no. 1208 documents collecting of sea bottom specimens from deep sea soundings eastward from the outer edge of George's Shoal and off Cape Sable, July 16 - August 10, 1873. J. A. Howell, U.S.N. was commanding the party. The table of data includes date, section number, locality (including latitude and longitude with minutes and seconds), fathoms, and appearance. There are notes in pencil that appear to have been written later.
