Abstract

The 4 hand drawn and colored illustrations of Lophobranch were created by Joseph Drayton and John Richard from fish observed or collected during the United States Exploring Expedition, 1838-1842. Several were created during the expedition. Drawings are of varying levels of detail and include a scientific name, multiple assigned numbers, sometimes locations, dates, and creator. Samoa is noted as a location.
