Abstract

14 black and white and color drawings of Gobiods, Blennoids, and Hippocampuses were created by Joseph Drayton and John Richard from fish observed or collected during the United States Exploring Expedition, 1838-1842. The illustrations are hand drawn, some hand colored, and include scientific name, some have location, multiple assigned numbers, and notes. Some are noted to come from collected specimen. Includes a note about specimen collecting, noting latitude and longitude as well as description of collecting environment for genus Cheilodactylus. Locations noted include Fiji, Japan, and Callao.
