Abstract

The notebook documents the Hughs collection (USNM accession number 246399), described by Druid Wilson in 1962. Inside the front cover, is a list of specimen numbers, nonconsecutive. The volume includes a table of contents including preliminary catalog, notes on the collection, data concerning lots, and index of localities, faunal elements, location of lots, and contents of cartons. There is a narrative description of the collection relating to its history and value, followed by description of lots and data. The description indicates that collection description is scant. This volume may be unique in its extent. When possible, Wilson includes notes per lot number from the original description in quotation.
