Abstract

The notebook documents the geological work of Harry S. Ladd in the Lau islands of Fiji, July 25 - August 14, 1934. The volume begins with a table of contents listing page and island name (Yangasa, Navutu Iloma, Yangasa levu, Oneata, Aiwa, Lakemba, Naiau, Vanua Vatu). Entries are dated and headed with island name, followed by narrative text per identifier (L428 - L508), and tables of data for traverses (sta., pace, dir., remarks). Text covers routes traveled, samples taken, descriptions of geological characteristics of terrain (color, composition, measurements). Entries includes drawings with notes.
