Abstract

The notebook documents the work of H. S. Ladd in Tonga and Samoa, 1928. The volume begins with a table of contents listing locations: Tongatalu, Eua, Tongatabu, Falcon, Lifuka, Vavau, and Upolu. Most entries are headed with location and are narrative in structure. They describe sites visited, including photographs taken, location information including landmarks and distance from, geological characteristics, fossils identified and collected (including coral), work of [J. Edward] Hoffmeister, sketches and geological sections, and hand drawn maps with notes. Also describes daily activities.
