Abstract

The notebook documents the work of J. Edward Hoffmeister in the Lau islands (Susui, Thikombia, Tuvutha, Katafaga) of Fiji, 1934 and 1939. Some entries are dated. They are narrative in structure and headed with island name. Entries include notes on fossils collected (frequently coral) with specimen number, identification, characteristics, and terrain where found; observations of terrain's geological characteristics, sketches, routes traveled during field work, and descriptions of photographs taken.
