Abstract

The notes documents the work of J. Edward Hoffmeister in Vava'u [Tonga] while working for the Bernice P. Bishop Museum, 1928. Entries are dated and narrative in structure, and describe routes traveled, observations of geological characteristics of terrain (beaches, reefs etc.) that sometime include measurements, hand drawn maps, sketches of terrain, and details about specimens collected. Specimen details include identification, description of location where collected, sketches, sometimes specimen number. Includes coral specimens. Some entries specify station numbers.
