Abstract

The field book documents the work of Thomas Wayland Vaughan, while in the employ of the U.S. Geological Survey, March 31 - June 14, 1902. The cover indicates that the volume relates to accession number 698; index number 21; localities (index map coordinates) H-15, H-16, I-16. According to notes, the object of work was to discover the stratigraphic relations of the coral limestone to the underlying orbitoidal limestone. Notes are dated and include location information, describe field work, collecting fossils, geological characteristics of terrain, specimens from other collectors, object of work at sites, geological sections with notes, and a printed map of Wilmington, North Carolina.
