Abstract

The notebook documents the paleontological field work of William A. Oliver in Europe, April 28 to August 21, 1969. Entries are dated and include numbered locations, location information (quarry name, landmarks) with descriptions of varying lengths for geological characteristics such as measurements and composition, and specimens collected. Also includes references to photographs taken and individuals met. Includes summaries of some trip details. Excursion to Rheinisches Schiefergebirge [Germany] (April - May) was led by W. Strure an R. Birenheide, and included J. Kullmann, J. Soranf, and G. Altenogt. The trip to Gotland, Sweden, was led by Bjorn Newman, Anders Martinsson, and included Ron Cocks, Mike Bassett, and John Bergstrom. Trip to Couvin-Franse, Belgium, was led by M. Lecompte, and H.H. Tsien. Trip to Cantabrian area of Spain was led by Gustav Alterogt, Jurgen Kullmann, and included Lemmer Ockentorp, Adriano Ferrarri, Colon Scrutton, Rudolf Birenheide, and the Oliver family. Entries cover 8511 to 8659. Locations include Hillesheimer Mulde; Gotland, Sweden; Couvin-Frasnes area, Belgium; Freque area, Loire Valley, and Brittany, France; Cantabria, of Spain.
