Abstract

The notebook documents the paleontology field work of William A. Oliver in Illinois and Kentucky, October 14 - 24, 1963. In the front of the book in a list of crates shipped as well as individuals with whom he collected (W.W. Olive, R.C. Kepferle, W.L. Peterson, Dick Lewis, Bob Thaden, Don Wolcott, Mark Catermole, Charlie Maxwell, Al Taylor, and Paul Richards). Entries are dated and include location information (quadrangle, landmarks, town and/or road in vicinity), terrain characteristics such as color and composition, and types of fossils. Locations include Jonesboro, Cobden, Altenburg, Devils Bake Oven, Illinois; Elizabeth Town, New Hope, Barren River, Delmer, Kentucky. According to notes in another volume, this is 1 of 2 volumes documenting collecting in Kentucky. It covers USGS 7051 to 7098, 63-1 to 63-2.
