Abstract

The notebook documents the field work of William Oliver in New York and Pennsylvania, June 12 - July 19, 1950 and undated. First section of the notebook is undated and entries include descriptions geological characteristics headed with geological era, followed by location (e.g. "Oriskany"), measurement, soil composition. Dated entries are organized by numbered location, location information utilizing local landmarks, description of terrain including measurements conceivably for bearing (latitude and longitude, degree of view), characteristics, and presence of fossils.
