Abstract

This is the first of two notebooks documenting the field work of William Oliver at the Ludlowville coral beds, New York. It covers June 5 - July 21, 1949. The notebook begins with a legend indicating "check later", "known out crops", "checked - not found", "in literature, check", and "in wash." Entries are headed with location (e.g. "w. side Otisco Lake"), followed by description of strata composition, geological sections, type of coral fossils present, and notes. Locations include Otisco Lake, Skaneateles Lake, and Tully Valley.
