Abstract

The notebook documents the geological observations of William Oliver, during field work completed March 6, 1948 - May 17, 1949, and September 13 - November 1952. Entries vary in content and format. Some include sketches of strata, description of of their composition, as well as a table of data. Table includes station number, bearing, distance, vert. L, diff. in elevation, elevation, and notes. The table is headed with names of creators (Oliver and Murray), date, and weather (e.g rainy). Other entries are headed with location and date of field trip, followed by geological description of sites identified by geological or man-made landmarks. Locations include Rhode Island, Illinois, and New York state.
