Abstract

The color illustration drawn by Robert Ridgway documents an adult male specimen of Larus californicus, collected in July 1867, at the Big Bend of the Truckee River in Nevada. The inscription indicates it shows the exact fresh colors of the bill, eyes, and eyelids. A sample feather is included with the illustration.
