Abstract

The folder contains 2 letters regarding species Buteo brachyurus. In the letter from George A. Boardman to Robert Ridgway, dated June 27, 1871, sent from Milltown, Maine, Boardman describes the location and circumstances under which a specimen sent to Ridgway was collected in Palatka, Florida, on February 1, 1881 (note discrepancy in date of letter and date of collection of specimen). In the letter from Gurney to Sclater, dated September 9, 1881, sent from Norwich, United Kingdom, Gurney describes the colors, feathers, and wing measurements of a specimen collected in Jalapa de Ora, Mexico, and housed at the Norwich Museum.
