Abstract

The folder includes 1 color and 1 black-and-white illustration. The color illustration includes an indecipherable inscription with possible specimen number, location, and species. A stamp on the reverse side indicates the Smithsonian Institution and the date (June 1866). The black-and-white illustration depicts an outline of a head and neck with detailed numbering for each feature and a corresponding color key. The illustration was drawn from a skinned specimen, 2 or 3 days old. The specimen was an adult male collected in Costa Rica in March, 1908. The reverse side includes a sketch of trees, calculations, measurements, and translations.
