Abstract

The 25 black-and-white photographs document field work completed on Sydney Island, June and July 1968. Twelve photographs taken by R. B. Clapp show a lagoon and pond near a Sesuvium covered tramway, the remains of a Green Turtle, Brown Noddies and Gray-backed Terns on an islet in the lagoon, a native hut, a Scaevola flower, the moon through treetops, and unidentified vegetation on a rocky outcrop. Thirteen photographs taken by C. D. Hackman show exposed tree roots (potentially coconut tree) on the beach, close up of morning glory and sedge, views of various inland and lagoon vegetation (Cordia, Messerschmidtia, Sida, Sesuvium, Scaevola, Pandanus, coconut tree, 4 foot large sedge), coconut grove with debris, and a Cordia flower. The images have captions on the reverse side that list location, date, photographer, description, negative numbers (302A-313A, 675, 684-686, 688, 690, 696, 705, 708, 722, 725, 731, 733) and unknown identifiers (e.g. Sy21).
