Abstract

The 20 black-and-white photographs document field work completed on Christmas Island [Kiritimati], March 1967. Nineteen photographs taken by R. Chandler show a Christmas Island Shearwater on a nest, Christmas Island Shearwater chicks, Fairy Terns in flight, a Fairy Tern on rocks, a Fairy Tern perched on a branch, a Fairy Tern in a Hawaiian Noddy nest, Line Island Warbler nests, a Phoenix Petrel in hand, a Fairy Tern nest with egg on branch, a Fairy Tern nest with egg on a rock, view of inland terrain with unidentified person, Kokikokiko nest and habitat, a Kokikokiko on unidentified vegetation, Bob Delong standing in open habitat of the Line Island Warbler, a Hawaiian Noddy on nest,and Black Noddy nests. One photograph taken by Frank Smith shows a view of inland terrain (description on back lists Christmas Island and Moto Upua Island). The images have captions on the reverse side that list location, date, description, photographer, and negative numbers (315-318, 320, 321, 324-326, 328, 329, 331-333, 339, 340, 346, 350, 352, 988).
