The 23 black-and-white photographs document field work completed on McKean Island, on April 17 and 18, 1966. The photographs include images of camp at coastline, coastal flats, shoreline of a lagoon, ruins of guano huts, vegetation (Tribulus in bloom, Sida fallax, Sesuvium portulacastrum in bloom, Digitaria pacifica), a clam, a Fairy Tern egg, birds (Sooty Terns, Gray-backed Terns, Blue-faced Boobies, Brown Bobby chick, Red-tailed Tropicbird, unidentified shorebirds, Lesser Frigatebirds, Immature Great Frigatebird, Great Frigatebirds), and a rock nest. The images have captions on reverse side that list location, description, date, photographer (P. C. Shelton), and negative numbers (492, 493, 494, 496, 498, 499, 500, 506, 507, 508, 512, 513, 522, 524, 525, 526, 529, 532, 536, 660, 661, 662, 663). Some descriptions include details on condition of birds and nests, and sex of birds.
