Abstract

The notebook documents the ornithological field work of D. B. Burrows, February 4, 1911 - April 27, 1919. The volume is organized by collecting trip or season, which corresponds with the index inside the front cover. Sections document collecting in Duval county, Texas 1911 - 1914; Cameron county, Texas, 1915; Live Oak county, Texas, 1916; and 1917-1919 in Texas and Illinois. Entries are headed with date, specimen identification (scientific name), locality (sometimes listing landmarks), followed by descriptions of habitat, nest composition and surrounding vegetation, state of eggs, and observed bird behavior. There is a loose insert inside the front cover with notes relating to bird songs.
